Safe & Secure Riding
Is riding a cycle safe on our roads ?
Bangalore has a few thousand professionals who are active commuters, and we have not heard of any major safety concerns by riders themselves. We cycle safely by riding like a VIP: Visible,Intentional and Predictable on the road.Â
How can you help me ride safely ?
A few steps we are planning:
Training: Briefing on how to ride safely, and confidently on the road via VIP
Map: Route map for a simple safe route to the station and back
Demo ride: To the Metro station and back
Peloton Pilots: Experienced cyclists will escort newbies for the first few real rides
Pedal Pals: Buddy groups so riders can ride together after the escort rides end
What happens if the cycle has a breakdown.
Peloton Pilots will advise remotely, and ride to you if possible.
How is the cycle secured ?
Locks are provided. Park only at the Metro station official parking.
What safety accessories do I need ?
Helmet, Reflective/Hi Viz jacket , Light for night rides. We can provide recommendations for these.
Arrive in Style
I am worried about sweating.
Yelechanehalli station is 2.4 Km downhill, sweating is unlikely, especially in the morning. Carry a small towel and dry off at the end. You can cycle in a Dryfit T shirt and change into regular clothes at your destination.
I am worried about helmet hair.
Carry a small shawl and cover your hair, before putting on the helmet.
I am worried about rain.
Bangalore rain is well behaved, rarely in the morning. And showers are usually short,so you can wait it out. For the adventurous souls, carry two sturdy plastic bags, and put your electronics/valuables like Laptops, Phones, wallets in them when it starts raining, and then enjoy the ride !
