Hub
Hub
The BycMe architecture consists of loosely federated hubs that share a common set of Bycme Base platform services for user and fleet management. Hubs operate independently, managing their own riders and cycles. Outsiders are not allowed to use the hub.
What is a BycMe Hub ?
A hub is typically an apartment complex. Good locations are 2-5 KM from Metro stations. Autos are hard to find for this short distance, and it is too far to walk.
What does a hub do ?
The Hub provides a safe parking space for cycles and manages its rider pool and finances for cycle maintenance. It is managed by the HubHero.
How does the hub benefit the community it runs in ?
1 Students going to Metro save cost, time
2 People doing nearby errands save cost, get exercise
3 Older people can cycle inside the complex for fun
4 Learners who dont know how to cycle can do so at the hub
What does it cost to setup and run a hub ?
Capex: Zero as the bikes are all donated. Space for parking can be found in common areas
Opex:There is a small cost for maintaining the bikes, not much.
What common services does the Hub use from the BycMe Base platform ?
BycMe Base platform services span user management, lock management, fleet inventory management. The Base team also does Advocacy, Stakeholder Management and building a best practices library.
What is a BycMe Hub Club ?
Club is a group of hubs that allows cycles to be shared with other hubs of their club only. They do not get access to other clubs. A hub choose to join the club if they want, else by default they operate independently.
I am interested in setting up a hub, how can you help ?
Please email us at bycme.mail@gmail.com and we can help you with the entire flow of setting up a hub, starting with user interest discovery, then engaging stakeholders like the Management Committee for infrastructure, asking for unused cycles to be donated, tips on refurbishing them to make them ride worthy at a low cost, and best practices for operations. We will also conduct training sessions for your hub team.
