Safe Riding
Is riding a cycle safe on our roads ?
Bangalore has lots of commuters, and we have not seen major safety concerns. We cycle safely by riding like a VIP: Visible,Intentional and Predictable on the road.
How can you help me ride safely ?
A few steps we are planning:
1 Training: Briefing on how to ride safely, and confidently like a VIP
2 Demo ride: To the Metro station and back, via simple safe route
3 Peloton Pilots: Experienced cyclists will escort newbies for a few rides
4 Pedal Pals: Buddy groups to ride together
How does it work ?
Members go to the Hub parking and borrow a cycle by using the unlock QR. Or you can use your own cycle.
Who is responsible for cycle safety ?
As the borrower, you are responsible for parking the cycle safely and locking it at the base and at the metro station.
Can I ride it anywhere?
Currently we are focusing on rides to metro stations and nearby errands, provided there is secure parking.
What happens if the cycle has a breakdown or a puncture.
Most areas have cycle shops within walking distance, just go there and get it fixed. If an emergency, Peloton Pilots will advise remotely, and ride to you if possible.
What safety accessories do I need ?
Helmet, Reflective/Hi Viz jacket , Light for night rides. We can provide recommendations for these.

I am worried about sweating.
Metro stations are close by, sweating is unlikely, especially in the morning. Carry a small towel and dry off at the end or go in a Dryfit T-shirt and change at your destination.
I am worried about helmet hair.
Carry a small shawl and cover your hair, before putting on the helmet.
I am worried about rain.
Bangalore rain is well behaved, rarely in the morning. And showers are usually short, so you can wait it out. For the adventurous souls, carry two sturdy plastic bags, and put your electronics/valuables like Laptops, Phones, wallets in them in opposing directions to ensure it is watertight, and enjoy the ride !
How does this help combat climate change ?
Grey Energy Footprint: Use cycles that are lying unridden for years.
Pollution: Avoids short commutes by motorized transport.
Traffic Congestion: Cycles use less space, and reduce congestion on the road.
